What does Buckeye Water to Trail Adventures offer?
We offer kayak rentals, guided river trips, and beginner-friendly kayaking classes focused on the Mahoning River and surrounding waterways. Whether you are brand new to kayaking or already have experience, we help you get on the water safely and confidently.

Where are you located?
We operate along the Mahoning River corridor in Northeast Ohio. Launch locations vary depending on the trip or class. Full details are provided after booking.

Do I need experience to kayak?
No experience is needed. We welcome beginners and offer Intro to Kayaking classes designed to help you build skills and confidence before heading out.

What is included with a kayak rental?
Each rental includes a kayak, paddle, life jacket, and basic safety instructions.

How long are rentals?
Trip lengths vary by route and river conditions, but most experiences range from about 1.5 to 6 hours on the water.

Can we bring dogs on kayaks, SUP, River Floats?
Yes! We do allow dogs in the kayaks, please keep in mind the boats do carry a weight limit and you are responsible for knowing your's and your pets limits while out enjoying the water.

Can we bring our own cooler?
Yes! We also have coolers for rent just Add-on at booking. Please keep in mind that we do ask all things taken out with you come back with you, we are all about keeping our spaces green and litter free.
*Note: alcoholic beverages are prohibited on Ohio waterways while operating a vessel so we ask that you please be responsible with our equipment.

Can We Cancel a Reservation?
All Reservations canceled no later than 24 hours before date equipment is reserved will be given a full refund. All others are subject to a $25 cancellation fee for day of.

What should I bring?
Bring water, sunscreen, water-friendly shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and a change of clothes. A dry bag is also helpful for personal items.

What is a guided trip?
A guided trip includes a trained trip leader who helps with river navigation, safety, and the overall experience.

Are guided trips beginner friendly?
Yes. Guided trips are a great option for newer paddlers who want extra support and local knowledge.

Guided trips are great for beginners, visitors, groups, and anyone who wants a more supported river experience.

What will I learn in the Intro to Kayaking class?
You will learn foundational paddling skills, boat control, entry and exit techniques, water safety basics, and how to feel more comfortable and confident in a kayak.

Where are classes held?
Classes are held on calm inland water within the Mahoning Watershed to provide a comfortable learning environment.

Do I need my own equipment?
No, We provide the equipment needed for class. You are allowed to register to bring your own equipment for class!

Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. Advance booking is recommended, especially for weekends, guided trips, and classes.

What happens if the weather is bad?
Trips may still run in light rain, but severe weather or unsafe conditions may require rescheduling for safety.

What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance may be eligible for rescheduling based on your policy. Weather-related changes are handled with safety first.

Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes. All participants must complete a liability waiver before participating.

Do you offer group trips or private outings?
Yes. We offer options for groups, private guided trips, and team-building style outings.

Can beginners book as a group?
Yes. Beginner-friendly groups are welcome, and guided options are a great fit for first-time paddlers.

Customer Responsibility
It is your responsibility to know your own limits while out on the water, if you are unsure or would like more time with an experienced guide please make note on form at booking we want all guests of any level to feel comfortable while out on the water. All children should be in a properly fitted life jacket at all times while in watercraft. You are responsible for all equipment rented to you for the duration of the rental period, you may call to have equipment picked up early but no refund is guaranteed. We ask that you please pack out what you pack in!
